Mentor Job Description


POSITION:
Heart Gallery Mentor

Heart Gallery Mentor Program Director

TERM:
At least 1 year commitment

POSITION FUNCTION:
The primary function of a mentor is to commit to mentor a foster youth in maintaining our mission statement and plans of the Heart Gallery Mentor Program. To remain a mentor for at least one year in the effort to build resiliency, life skills and self confidence that will assist the youth while he/she transistions into adulthood / independent living. To create avenuess of positive and creative fun through adventures that show a life of excitement without the negative influences.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the vision, mission and goals of the Heart Gallery Mentor Program.

Attend trainings.

Observe all Heart Gallery Mentor Program policies and procedures.

Track monthly volunteer activities and report to the Heart Gallery Mentor Program Director in a timely manner.

Time required: At least 10 hours a month for 12 months.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Have an interest in being a friend and role model to youth in foster care.
Willingness to commit to the time needed
Complete the application process and orientation
Complete a background check.

SUPPORT AND TRAINING:
Volunteer training and support by A Family For Every Child staff, DHS and community resources
Support, as available, to attend community training
