Orientation is an overview of different issues that children have dealt with during adoption. It prepares both foster and adoptive parents for scenarios that come up when a child comes out of the foster care system. The training will prepare you for parenting children who may have been abused or neglected. Orientation is required before weekend training. This training will meet requirements of Adoptive Parent Training for Foster Care and adoption from Foster Care. The training topics include:

• The children who will be in their care.
• How to work with schools, therapists and others.
• Rules and procedures.
• Learn and apply effective child rearing practices.
• Discipline without punishment.

Training also includes a safety checklist to prepare a home for an adoption. Orientation and training are provided by Christian Family Adoptions. All faiths are welcome to attend. This is an adult only class. Please arrange child care if necessary. Water and light snacks will be provided by CFA. Orientation and Training will be in the Dundee room of Providence Newberg Hospital, 1003 Providence Drive, Newberg, OR 97132 . Orientation is in the evening 6-8pm, the classes are Friday 6-9pm, Saturday 8am-5pm and Sunday 8am-5pm. RSVP (below, or by calling) requested but not required.
